This photo, taken in the mid-1930s, shows 3 generations of women from the Stevens family: Nora (Gray) Stevens, Bessie (Stevens) Barton, Alice (Stevens) Bianchi, and June Barton. Their families all lived near each other in Oklahoma City. Nora’s husband ran a corner grocery store, and let his son-in-law, Sidney Barton, use a shop behind his store to start a car repair shop when other work dried up during the Depression. I love the hints of thrift and industry in this photo… A clothes line, a chicken egg, an apron.
